Remain calm. Write down any error messages from the screen. We can help.
Crashes and freezes are inevitable.
- Device driver problem (probably the most common issue). Device drivers are programs that allow the operating system to communicate with the computer's hardware.
- A virus (very common)
- A corrupted program
- Memory problem
- Sometimes a crash is actually your hard drive giving up. The head mechanism that reads data from the drive is literally crashing into the disc and scratching it. This is a good time to shut down the computer and slowly back away. The less the disc is scratched up, the more data is likely to be recoverable from it.
